Soul of Oak Homeschool Supplemental Program

Program overview

  • Schedule: Tuesdays through Fridays, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Season: Weekly sessions from September through May

  • Age group: Children ages 7–9

  • Enrollment: Join one day per week (choose the same weekday each week)

What we offer

  • Hands-on, nature-based curriculum blending academics, outdoor skills, and creative exploration

  • Small-group learning with experienced outdoor educators to support social development and individualized attention

  • Balanced daily structure: morning academic block, outdoor skill or science exploration, lunch and free play, afternoon art/skill labs and reflection

  • Skills taught: nature literacy, basic ecology, plant and animal identification, map reading and compass basics, natural crafts, seasonal gardening, safe tool use (age-appropriate), observational science, creative writing, and group problem-solving

  • Integration of core homeschool subjects: reading and writing, math in real-world contexts, science investigations, and social-emotional learning

Typical day (9:00–3:00)

  • 9:00–9:30 — Arrival, morning circle, orientation to the day

  • 9:30–11:00 — Academic block: literacy and math activities tied to nature themes

  • 11:00–12:00 — Outdoor science or skill session: hands-on exploration and experiments

  • 12:00–12:45 — Lunch and unstructured play

  • 12:45–2:00 — Project-based learning: art, building, gardening, or field studies

  • 2:00–2:45 — Reflection, journaling, and skill practice

  • 2:45–3:00 — Closing circle and dismissal

Safety and staffing

  • Low student-to-staff ratio to ensure close supervision and meaningful interaction

  • Staff are trained in outdoor education, child development, and emergency response; up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification

  • All activities use age-appropriate tools and safety protocols; detailed safety information provided at enrollment

Logistics and enrollment

  • Families select one consistent weekday (Tues–Fri) for the entire September–May session

  • Tuition billed monthly with sibling and multi-day discounts available if applicable

  • Enrollment priority given to full-season commitments; limited spots per day

  • Required forms: registration, medical/health form, emergency contacts, and any allergy/action plans
